The City of Oxnard's Cultural and Community Services Department is seeking an Adult Services Librarian. Oxnard Public Library is looking for a team-focused librarian with a focus on adult services and programming. This role will be responsible for general interest programming as well as adult age programming.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate adult programming and outreach for a diverse community.
Serve patrons on the reference desk through reference questions, readers advisory, and basic technology requests.
Assist patrons with basic digital literacy questions.
Assist on the circulation desk checking books in, and assisting patrons checking out.
Select and maintain adult collections as assigned.
Create displays and marketing material to engage the community in and outside of the library.
Excellent customer service and the ability to resolve customer questions, concerns, and complaints.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PAYROLL/CLASSIFICATION TITLE:
Librarian
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This classification is distinguished from the Library Technician Senior in that it provides journey-level professional library services.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED / SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives general supervision and is expected to prioritize work to meet deadlines and to keep the supervisor informed of issues that would impact achievement of a deadline, organizational policy or procedure or in consideration of risk management.
WORK SCHEDULE: The normal work week is Monday through Thursday and every other Saturday and Sunday as assigned. Hours may include some evenings and/or nights.
