Librarian Technical Services - Part Time Temporary - City of Prescott

Job Description Position Summary:

Performs professional front-line or supporting services and connects Library customers to information, resources, and services.

Work Schedule:

• One (1) - 19 hour per week position.

Essential Duties:

• Processing and receiving orders of library materials
• Copy cataloging, changing existing records as needed, and processing materials
• Working with other Technical Services personnel and Support Services Manager to effectively manage workflow of Technical Services processes
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required or Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited library school preferred. At least one year of experience in a library or related setting providing customer service to adults.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:

• Working knowledge of library cataloging and classification using an integrated library system
• Working Knowledge of AACR2, RDA, and WorldShare
• Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to analyze and facilitate resolution of problems
• Ability to effectively administer day-to-day operations including workflow management
• Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and discretion in performance of duties
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a library environment
• Safely lifts, carries, and/or pushes materials including full book carts, book bins, and lifting tubs weighing up to 50 pounds
• Safely performs physically demanding duties involving repetitive standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching for long periods of time
• Safely operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, laptop and/or tablet PC, telephone, bar code reader, copier, requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement
• Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs
• Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
