About the Job
The License and Title Clerk will prepare and process license plate and title documents, and all titling transactions for local and out-of-state titling. You will complete assigned states Department of Motor Vehicle registration paperwork for planned vehicle deliveries as well as all company car sales in state which they will be titled and request duplicate titles if needed.
Other preparation includes but not limited to:
- Prepare, print and maintain Certificates of Origin for all vehicles in assigned area of responsibility
- Process all titling documents through electronic vehicle registration program and/or DMV offices. Ensure license plate information in the VA system is updated properly (additions, deletions, modifications, etc.) and ensure registrations do not expire while vehicles are still in-service.
- Maintains accurate logs for license plate and title tracking, including ownership of dealer or manufacturer plate assignments.
- Prepare auction list and prep titles to send to auction on daily basis to ensure vehicle moves to sale as quickly as possible and as cost-effectively as possible. Signs over titles for all consigned or sold vehicles in a timely manner and in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain a knowledge of DMV laws and regulations as it relates to vehicle titles in assigned states and ensures company's plate and title work compiles with all applicable state regulations.
- Coordinate the titling and registration with third party agency based on state in which they will be titled, if needed.
- Process sold vehicle titles ensuring transferability to buying dealership in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Verify accurate title VIN number, odometer reading, release of liens, and "free and clear" title. Check vehicle titles for accuracy and ensure titles are delivered to purchasing dealer.
- Make recommendations for business process improvements and solutions as they relate to the business needs. Manage operational issues for day-to-day activities, respond to high-priority, complete and/or escalated customer requests.
- Renewing 4 Dealer Licenses on annual basis in accordance to corresponding State DMV laws.

The pay range for this role is: $53,303.00 - $62,482.00.
The selected candidate's education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or certification.
- 2-3 years or more previous motor vehicle or automotive title clerk experience at a car dealership or auction
- Valid driver's license with clear driving record for last 3 years
- Must be able to pass NJ or CA DMV requirements for using automated title system .
Preferences:
- Notary experience is a plus
- Able to work in a fast paced and diverse environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills required
