Maine state licensure to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required

This is an exciting opportunityfor aLicensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)to join our care team at Maine Medical Centerin the Acute Psychiatric Care Unit of the Emergency Department.The Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the acute psychiatry unit must be able to quickly establish rapport with a diverse variety of patients; have excellent diagnostic skills; be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment; communicate with colleagues in the Emergency Department, family and outpatient providers; utilize crisis intervention skills; and have knowledge of a broad array of community resources and systems.

Position Summary

This is a position for the professional social worker that involves the evaluation of psychosocial needs of patients/clientsand their families, and provision of diagnostic/preventive and treatment services including individual, family, and grouptherapy. Also provides complex discharge planning, coordinates aftercare services, and makes referrals for other communityservices based on the treatment plan. The employee works in collaboration with other health/mental healthprofessionals and provides consultation to the treatment team regarding patient/family social and environmental needs. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with institutional and social work/clinical counselor policies. May supervise other social workers, students, or other staff.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. 1. Education: Knowledge of social work theories, techniques and therapies, as used in individual, family and group treatment, aswell as principles of social welfare as acquired through completion of a Master's degree in social work from aninstitution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
   2. License/Certifications: Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Work Licensure, LCSW.
   3. Experience: Two or more years' work experience in a health or mental health setting preferred.
   4. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaborative with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare teamwithin Acute Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine
