Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse - Behavioral Health

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Behavioral Health team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, ensuring adherence to Cherokee Nation’s policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Room patients and prepare them for examinations.

• Take and record vital signs accurately.

• Screen patients in accordance with Cherokee Nation’s policies.

• Order lab work and x-rays following standing orders of the Cherokee Nation.

• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as per standing and provider orders.

• Operate various medical equipment proficiently.

• Document observations, referrals, and nursing interventions per Cherokee Nation documentation standards.

• Assist providers with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures and exams.

• Educate patients and offer self-management support.

• Obtain lab specimens as needed.

• Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities using the Model for Improvement.

• Collaborate effectively as part of the care team.

Requirements:

• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5-6.

• Work a schedule of 4x10-hour shifts; no overtime required.

• Minimum of 2 years of practical nursing experience.

• Possess a valid Oklahoma Practical Nurse License.

• Certifications required: AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

• Ability to work with pediatric patients.

• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.

• Meet pre-employment credentialing clearances, including background check and drug screen.

• Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
