American Kidney Center of Louisville (AKC) is looking for an energetic, patient and TEAM focused Licensed Practical Nurse to join our growing unit!!
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides safe, effective delivery of age specific patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, in compliance with standards outlined in the facility procedure manual, as well as regulation set forth by the company, state and federal agencies.
- The LPN/LVN is responsible for assisting and supporting the unit management team in achieving quality, patient satisfaction, staff development, business management as appropriate, teamwork, culture and employee satisfaction.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment.
- Responsible for understanding, supporting, interpreting, and implementing the philosophy and policies of the corporation.
- Provides safe, effective delivery of patient care as overseen by the Unit Medical Director in compliance with standards outlined in the facility procedure manual, as well as regulations set forth by the company, state and federal agencies.
- Candidate should have a flexible work schedule. Hours may vary but will be full or part -time with rotating weekends. Facility is typically closed between 9p-10pm.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
The LPN or LVN will be responsible for the performance of all of the duties listed. The distribution of effort between the duties listed can be expected to vary according to the need and to individual assignments, under the supervision of a registered nurse, Coordinator, Dialysis Manager, and Unit Medical Director:
- Demonstrates applicable knowledge of policies and procedures related to the Hemodialysis LPN/LVN.
- Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills for the LPN/LVN, as determine by the competency assessment program.
- Demonstrates applicable knowledge of the policies and procedures of providing patient care, including the patient’s treatment, reuse, and water treatment facility, and emergency procedures.
- Assists with and performs all procedures of equipment maintenance, safe operation, disinfection and inventory control according to corporate and departmental policy, manufacturer recommendations and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Assumes administrative duties under the direction of the Dialysis Manager/Coordinator.
- Assumes responsibility and utilizes opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Performs additional duties and is responsible for specific projects, within the scope of experience and training, as assigned by the Dialysis Manager/Hemodialysis Coordinator.
MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:
Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all hemodialysis and related ancillary and emergency equipment utilized in the facility such as: reuse equipment, water treatment equipment, computer, hemodialysis machines, sphygmomanometer, conductivity meter, glucometers, scale, electronic thermometers, centrifuge, EKG machine, IV infusion pump, code cart, suction machine, oxygen administration equipment, and personal protective equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing (LPN,LVN)
- Current appropriate state licensure.
- Minimum of one year medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required.
- Hemodialysis experience preferred, but not required.
- Successful completion of a training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis preferred but not required.
- Successful completion of CPR healthcare recognition
- Valid driver’s license and insurance, when indicated/applicable for business travel by automobile.
- Computer knowledge/ EHR experience desirable.
- Pre-hire drug screen and background check required.
- A professional that works with skill, competence, ethics, and courtesy.
