About the Job
We are currently looking for a full-time Licensed Veterinary Nurse/Technician, LVT (Licensed Veterinary Technician) to join our small, dedicated, and compassionate team. We are a growing hospital and desire to add to our highly experienced and skilled team.
Qualified candidates should hold a current license in the State of Michigan. However, we are willing to review candidates that are soon to be or are a recent graduate of a veterinary technology program. We do prefer that candidates have prior veterinary hospital experience, but it is not required. We will provide training.

Summary of essential job functions
- Assist veterinarians with routine patient visits, surgical procedures; and with the care of hospitalized patients;
- Communicate with clients regarding medical status of their pets;
- Assist veterinarians with administrative functions associated with patient history and client billing;
- Perform routine in-house laboratory procedures and radiographs;
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors and machines, etc.;
- Properly dispense prescription medications for patients;
- Restrain small animals during medical examinations with proper low stress handling techniques;
- Organize examination rooms to ensure equipment and supplies are properly stocked;
- Educate clients on preventative medical care for their pets and on other educational topics based on hospital recommendations;
- Maintain a clean/disinfected work area;
- Follow OSHA Guidelines regarding safety and handling of hazardous materials.
Minimum requirements:
Prior work experience in a veterinary environment; experience with the technical skills acquired through on the job and in-school classroom/lab setting; experience entering data into computer system, and performing basic clerical functions.
Abilities required:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills; ability to follow both verbal written instructions; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; a strong attention to detail and a high desire for quality work. A minimum of 1 year of veterinary technician experience is preferred. We are open to a new graduate.
Physical Demands:
This job requires standing, walking, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, bending at the knees (stooping), reaching, pulling, and lifting at least 40 pounds. We have a low stress handling approach to our patients which may include pre-medications prior to appointments and sedation for stressful procedures such as nail trims and radiographs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
