The Riverside University Health System-Medical Center has an immediate opening for a Licensed Vocational Nurse with the Patient Accounting-Billing Department.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team in a specialized non-clinical role within the patient accounting and billing department. The primary responsibility of this position is to audit, review, and ensure the accuracy of patient medical charts and billing records. This role involves no direct patient care and is ideal for candidates with a strong background in chart auditing, financial analysis, and healthcare billing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in auditing, billing, and/or coding.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, however not required
Experience in hospital charge capture
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and billing software.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
Work Schedule:
9/80 - with every other Friday off
Hours: 7:00 am to 4:30 pm

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Audit and review patient medical charts and billing records for accuracy and compliance.
Ensure charges are correctly applied and coded in alignment with medical records andbilling standards.
Supervises the preparation and processing of medical documents submitted in justification for reimbursement for medical services provided to Medicare and Medi-Cal patients.
Supervises and trains in the abstracting and summarizing of medical information from patient charts, discharge summaries, etc.
Works with medical staff to gain their cooperation in completing patients charts and forms; compares medical record documentation with professional standards of care.
Consults with officials of Medi-Cal and Medicare and other insurance agencies to gain approval of revised methods and procedures of medical documentation.
Develops procedures to comply with requirements of the County Professional Standards Review Organization.
provides technical support to medical and nursing staff as well as Hospital audit committees in explaining feasibility of data retrieval from medical records and developing reporting formats.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or medical setting, specifically with billing and patient chart auditing is preferred.
Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques and procedures used in vocational nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; medical terminology, acute care procedures and equipment; medication administration.
Ability to: Skillfully perform the full range of vocational nursing duties and responsibilities per the Nurse Practice Act; learn and follow policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, mid-level providers, registered nurses, patients and co-workers; complete and maintain reports and patient records; make observations of situations accurately and report them so effective action can be taken according to rules of documentation and policies and procedures.
Other Requirements:
License : Possession of a valid California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners.
Certification : Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association for professional healthcare providers.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required for this position.
