WSP is currently initiating a search for a LiDAR Technician II to support our Northeast Region Geospatial / Surveying Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team conducting registration and extraction of LiDAR data using Leica Cyclone, Microstation, TopoDOT, Autodesk Revit, Civil3D and other software. The preferred office location for this position would be Valhalla, NY. The position could also potentially be based in one of our offices located in Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Troy, NY; or Merrimack, NH.
Your Impact
- Under direct supervision, assist with terrestrial lidar mapping/extraction for various projects.
- Provides entry-level land surveying assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.
- Demonstrates team work and maintains open communication between the field, office and client.
- Work with Team lead, project managers and other Laser Scan team members in LiDAR registration and extraction.
- Create and review digital models and mapping of LiDAR and other types of traditional survey projects.
- Processing Survey data.
- Perform Terrestrial LiDAR Extraction.
- Perform terrestrial Lidar data acquisition, LiDAR processing, and prepare final deliverables for review.
- Observe and comply with all company and related safety rules.
- Follows state specific standards of practice to provide professional survey assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals, engineers, scientists, project control, and technicians on assigned survey tasks.
- Perform point cloud registration with Leica Cyclone point cloud processing software.
- Perform model extraction from the recorded point cloud data using BIM tools. Implement BIM standards as outlined by clients.
- Demonstrate best practices for model organization and modeling technique.
- Ensure that both you and your crews comply daily with WSP and client specific safety guidelines and provide required safety documentation and records.
- Engage in occasional contact with client personnel to schedule and coordinate project survey activities.
- Remain current in latest survey/reality capture knowledge, techniques, and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Laser Scanning Surveys, AutoCAD, Revit and Microstation software.
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a diverse team.
- A working knowledge of surveying mathematics, land surveying practices and procedures.
- Ability to extract raw laser scanning data and processing point cloud in Leica Cyclone software.
- Experience in Autodesk Revit and 3D modeling from point clouds. BIM360 system understanding.
- Experience with TopoDot, Cyclone 3DR software preferred.
- Able to read drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical product and material specifications, as well basic DOT feature coding.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Overall knowledge of conducting field operations.
- Understanding of office operations.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

- Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening, including a valid Driver's license.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Able to work occasional overtime as per project.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology or related areas
- Leica Cyclone Core, Field, Register
- Autodesk Civil 3D
- Autodesk Revit
- Bentley Microstation and TopoDOT
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $53,100 - $87,670
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
