We are seeking a Life Skills Instructor/Aide to provide support for 12 hours per month to an individual with disabilities. This role focuses on teaching SMART goals, providing constant reminders, and assisting with meal prepping and cooking. If you are patient, compassionate, and comfortable with pets, we’d love to hear from you! Paid mileage is offered for travel during your shift.
Job Description:
As a Life Skills Instructor/Aide, you will work one-on-one with an individual with disabilities, focusing on developing and achieving SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals. Your support will include offering consistent reminders for daily tasks, assisting with meal preparation and cooking, and ensuring a nurturing environment. Comfort with pets is essential, as the individual has animals in their home.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and assist the individual in setting and achieving SMART goals related to personal development and daily living skills.
- Provide constant reminders for daily routines, tasks, and appointments to promote independence.
- Assist with meal prepping and cooking, ensuring the individual has nutritious meals and teaching basic cooking skills.
- Create a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters growth and self-confidence.
- Be comfortable interacting with and caring for pets in the household.
- Communicate regularly with family members or other team members to coordinate care and track progress.
What We’re Looking For:
- A compassionate and patient individual dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Comfortable with pets and enjoys working in a home environment with animals.
- A reliable person with strong communication skills who can provide consistent support and reminders.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, particularly in teaching life skills, but we are open to training the right candidate.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Must be comfortable with pets in the home.
- Physical ability to assist with daily living tasks when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Hours:
- This position offers 12 hours per month, with flexible scheduling options.
