Cook's Helper
Assists cook and fills in for cook in the preparation and serving of food to the residents.
Prepares salads and desserts according to the prescribed diets.
Prepares, serves and stores food using proper sanitation methods.
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of kitchen area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists cook in preparing meals according to the prescribed diets.
- Labels, dates and stores leftover food.
- Sweeps and scrubs kitchen floor.
- Stores and dates all new food and supplies.
- Rotates stock and maintains sanitation and safety standards in all storage areas.
- Washes pots and pans.
- Prepares daily menu items such as desserts, salads and fruit cups.
- Follows posted schedule of daily cleaning tasks.
- Cleans and sanitizes work area daily, cleans any spills immediately
- Maintains a knowledge of therapeutic diets.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Food service and dining environment experience preferred.
Previous work within a long-term care facility is helpful.
Employees will utilize cleaning agents and/or chemicals as well as heat and some hot equipment and experience with these elements is helpful.
