Position Summary:This position is responsible for the daily assigned duties within the linen room as instructed by the Director of Purchasing while providing good customer service to internal and external guest.
This PT role pays an hourly wage of $23.80.

About the Venue:McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.
Responsibilities:- Issues linen and uniforms, which are both to be exchanged on a clean-for-soiled basis only
- Places linen and uniforms in containers for transport to laundry
- Log/documents all issues of uniform/linen items
- Sort’s items and counts and records number of items soiled
- Transports soiled uniforms to laundry room and completes laundering of said items by operating washers and dryers according to operational and safety standards
- Examines laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
- Returns torn and damaged uniforms to vendor.
- Stores laundered linen and uniforms on shelves, hanging racks and bins after verifying numbers and types of articles.
- Counts and records linen to fill requisition.
- Completes periodic inventories of linen and uniforms ensuring both are neatly and systematically arranged and stacked.
- Gives on the job training for new hires
- Operates flatwork ironer/hand held iron to iron items according to operational and safety procedures.
- Checks quality and quantity of all new incoming uniforms, linen and textiles to ensure they meet the organizations standards.
- Reports to the Director of Purchasing when stocks reach the minimum for order purposes.
- Performs housekeeping related duties necessary to maintain the linen room in an orderly and professional condition.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve overall objectives of this position.
- Provides courteous service to customers when delivering or picking up linen.

Educational Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma/GED
- Must have sufficient math ability to accurately add, subtract, divide, multiply and perform other basic business math calculations.
- Must speak, be able to read and understand English well enough to converse with customers, supervisor’s and employees.
- Understand written and oral direction and communicate effectively with others.
Skills and Abilities
- Must possess good organizational skills
- Must have ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work
- Ability to work closely with others
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment; sense of urgency
- Must have a pleasant personality and adhere to Uniform Standards policy
