Description/Comment:
Plans, designs and deploys large scale complex systems, including enterprise infrastructure, information systems, ERP applications, and internet technologies. Projects typically involve on both software and hardware components. Evaluates existing systems to understand capabilities and recommend solutions. Works with non-technical business owners to understand needs and develops a technical solution. Participates in the layout design and installation of new systems or modification of existing systems. Develops and manages systems integration projects. Identifies and resolves existing system deficiencies.

Candidates for the Linux automation engineer position must have experience in Linux automation technologies such as Puppet, Chef, Satellite, Spacewalk, Opsware, etc. Engineer will be part of a team that develops and executes infrastructure automation projects that automate Linux administration and software deployment tasks. Knowledge of automation scheduling required. Enterprise systems architecture analysis is a plus. Clear and effective business and technology communications are needed, both to internal and external customers. Strong knowledge of HPSA (also known as Opsware) is desired as the team will be converting from HPSA paradigm to a Puppet and Spacewalk infrastructure. Focus for this position will be on RESTful calls to integrate Puppet with other tools (such as SCCM) as well as Puppet Reporting.
Preferred Skills :
Experience in Linux automation technologies such as Puppet, Chef, Satellite, Spacewalk, Opsware, etc. Experience with large enterprise systems requiring careful change control. Very good written and oral communication skills; articulation of concepts at logical and physical levels. Works well in a team environment. Willing to work flexible hours as part of support rotation. Solid understanding of server virtualization, provisioning tools, SAN storage, networking. Retail Distribution Center, Multi-Campus distributed system experience a plus. Programming experience a plus.
Soft Skills Needed:
Good verbal and written communications skills. Customer Service - working with internal customers to agree on Solutions. Commitment to meeting objectives.
