Responsibilities:Provides Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Point of Care Testing(POCT) testing support to the Clinical Laboratory department, as follows, 1) involved in the build and maintenance of the laboratory information system (LIS), reference laboratory database, interface sharing components, billing, and dictionaries with direct supervision by the Laboratory Director or designee, 2) in collaboration with the Laboratory Director, ensures that individual tests and test panels comply with regulatory billing requirements, 3) involved in the building, validation, maintenance and monitoring of instrument and billing interfaces to ensure accuracy, 4) assists section heads in streamlining LIS processes within the laboratory, 5) involved in implementing and validating LIS system upgrades, 6) involved with the maintenance and troubleshooting of the pathology LIS component, 7) provides customized NPR reports to laboratory management, 8) assists in facilitating any issues referred to the LIS vendor’s customer/technical service, 9) provides training of laboratory staff on the use and maintenance of the LIS, 10) maintains and ensures LIS policies, procedures and processes meet accreditation requirements, 11) works with local and corporate IT departments on Laboratory and Respiratory Therapy department projects, 12) collaborates with corporate and facility Information Technology and Business Office departments in CDM maintenance and implementation of system-wide changes to the LIS / CDM, 13) develops and implements new LIS policies and procedures, 14) develops appropriate project lists and work plans for project completion 15) may be assigned responsibilities related to POC. 16) other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director. In addition to above, performs all CLS-II responsibilities, as needed, based on competency, Review Point of Care Testing (POCT) pursuant to PHS lab Services and quality standards.
Qualifications:EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. ASCP certification, or equivalent, required within 1 year of employment
2. Bachelor’s Degree required
3. Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required
4. Minimum 1 year Laboratory Information System (LIS) experience required.
