Job Details
Our client is seeking a lateral attorney with substantial involvement in litigation activities to join our litigation group. Responsible for all aspects of investigation, written discovery, depositions, briefing, motion practice and trial, in a wide variety of subject matter litigation.
Responsibilities:
1. Handle a wide array of civil litigation matters and manage cases from inception through trial.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents including motions, pleadings, and discovery.
3. Conduct research to support legal proceedings and to formulate a defense or to initiate legal action.
4. Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute in civil litigation matters.
5. Advise clients on their legal rights and obligations, providing clear and concrete advice.
6. Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
7. Collaborate with a team of attorneys and staff to achieve the best outcome for our clients.
8. Maintain updated knowledge of regulatory changes and legal precedents affecting our clients' interests.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admission to the Iowa state bar.
3. 3+ years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Exceptional negotiation skills, with a proven track record of achieving favorable settlements.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Strong ethics, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity and professionalism.
9. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
10. Proficient in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
