Job Description:
An insurance defense firm is seeking an energetic, hard-working, and dedicated Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This firm promotes a work-life balance and a team-oriented environment where professional growth is encouraged. Overtime is not required, and they offer a casual attire policy Monday through Friday. This role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled legal assistant to join a supportive team and contribute to the firm's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Experience with case intake/opening, managing deadlines, and ensuring attorneys meet the same.
- Filing and Service: Proficiency with filing and service in California superior, federal, and appellate courts. Knowledge of rules relating to the service and filing of pleadings and discovery.
- Legal Support: Familiarity with expert designation, deposition processes, and trial-triggered deadlines. Comfortable with client/insurance carrier contact via email and phone.
- Trial Preparation: Experience in preparing, serving, and filing trial documents, motions in limine, and exhibit binders.
- Software Proficiency: Competent with Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Excel).
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a civil litigation legal assistant/legal secretary in a fast-paced law firm (personal injury experience preferred).
- Self-starting with a "hit the ground running" work ethic.
- Familiarity with the expert designation and deposition process.
- Comfortable with client/insurance carrier contact.
- Experience with trial preparation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
