About the Job
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to support our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling legal documents and providing administrative support in a busy legal environment. This role involves preparing legal documents, managing case files, and coordinating with clients and court personnel.
This position is primarily onsite, with the ability to work from home 4 days a month (not flexible).
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Preparation: Draft, format, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and affidavits. Ensure accuracy and compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, including electronic filing systems. Track deadlines, case progress, and follow up on outstanding tasks.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with the court, including electronic filings and handling physical submissions as required. Monitor case schedules and court calendars.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to schedule meetings, gather information, and provide updates. Handle client inquiries and manage confidentiality.
- Administrative Support: Manage attorneys' calendars, schedule appointments, and arrange meetings. Prepare correspondence and manage daily office tasks.
- Discovery and Research: Assist with discovery processes, including document collection, organization, and review. Conduct preliminary legal research as needed.
- Billing and Timekeeping: Enter and track billable hours and expenses. Assist with preparing client invoices and managing expense reports.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a litigation environment is required.
- Skills: Proficient in legal research, document preparation, and case management software. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling legal documents and case information.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with legal case management systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and court personnel in a professional manner.
Education:
- Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant Certification, or equivalent legal experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with standard office hours. Occasional overtime may be required based on case demands.
