Ultimate Staffing is recruiting for a Direct Hire Litigation Paralegal for a large law firm in New Orleans, LA! Qualified candidates will have 3-5 years of experience working in a litigation law firm. This is an in-office role, Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm, looking to pay $60-$70K DOE. Apply today!
Job Summary:
Assists attorneys in performing legal tasks in research, document production and overall legal support to the attorneys' practice.
Responsibilities:
- Index, organize and analyze legal and other documents.
- Under the supervision of an attorney, prepare initial draft of pleadings, discovery responses, and other filings.
- Issue subpoenas and perform basic background checks.
- Coordinate and participate in document production.
- May assist with witness preparation and attend depositions as required.
- Assist with trial preparation and may attend and assist the attorneys during trial.
- Prepare deposition summaries.
- Obtain information using the Westlaw and Lexis systems.
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, experts, attorneys and others by telephone, in person and in writing, obtaining and giving information as directed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate.
- 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary in a position involving significant decision making responsible.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent people skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- College degree
- Paralegal certificate
- Toxic Tort experience
