A reputable law firm is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Secretary with over five years of experience to support high-stakes litigation attorneys specializing in complex commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in eDiscovery and trial preparation and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple cases, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively within a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys handling high-stakes, complex commercial litigation cases.
- Assist attorneys with preparing and filing legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial materials.
- Manage all aspects of eDiscovery, including organizing, reviewing, and maintaining electronic files and databases.
- Prepare for trials by assembling trial binders, coordinating witness logistics, and managing exhibits and courtroom materials.
- Perform electronic filing (e-filing) in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Maintain and organize physical and digital case files, tracking deadlines, correspondence, and discovery documents.
- Coordinate with opposing counsel, court personnel, and clients to facilitate case progression.
- Handle calendaring of court dates, depositions, meetings, and other key litigation events for the assigned attorneys.
- Prepare expense reports, manage attorney time entry, and assist with billing activities as needed.
- Support trial attorneys in all phases of trial preparation, including attending court, organizing exhibits, and managing on-site logistics during trials.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Litigation Secretary, focusing on complex commercial litigation.
- Proficiency in eDiscovery processes and tools, including managing large-scale document reviews.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court filing systems, including experience with e-filing.
- Proven experience in trial preparation and courtroom assistance.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing multiple litigation matters simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal document management systems (e.g., iManage, Relativity, or similar).
- Familiarity with complex commercial litigation and high-stakes trial environments.
- Experience with legal billing software and time entry systems.
Salary:
$90,000 - $100,000- commensurate with your experience and qualifications
