Job Summary
Provide technical support to Operations on assigned units or assigned field of expertise. Act as a technical liaison for the assigned units or area to other areas of the company (such as the Business Optimization Group, Project Engineering, Process Design Environmental, Safety, Strategic Planning, Purchasing, etc.) as well outside parties (such as equipment, chemical and catalyst vendors).
Abilities needed: The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities:
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques
- Ability to identify problems related to routine work and determine solutions within scope of prescribed methodology
- Ability to analyze data to properly characterize problems and develop appropriate solutions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work within or lead a project team
- Ability to maintain productivity without constant supervision
- Ability to learn and use various engineering design and analysis software
- Demonstrated initiative in school and in prior work experience
- Willing to work in a process environment
Minimum Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Mechanical or Civil Engineering Degree
- Co-Op/Internship Experience Preferred
- Valid Drivers License Required
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility
- Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Job Duties
Responsible for performing engineering duties which may include:
- Basic design within the engineering discipline
- Engineering feasibility studies
- Economic analysis of simple projects
- Root cause failure analysis of equipment
- Development of scopes of work for new, repair, or replacement of equipment
- Basic engineering plans, schedules, and cost estimates
- Specification, evaluation, and selection of equipment and materials
- Working together with Operations, Maintenance, and other departments within the refinery to finalize scopes and improve reliability
- Development of solutions to problems of limited scope and performing routine tasks related to a particular field of engineering
- Lead and / or support of various types of Capital Projects from conception through construction
