Job Summary
The position is responsible for systematically collecting, processing and analyzing large commercial and industrial (C&I) customers' gas and electric energy consumption and demand data outputs from meters and recorders. The data maintained by the Load Research team is the foundation for critical work, such as review and analysis of large C&I customer consumption and metered interval usage, customer energy optimization and rate analysis, cost of service studies, market analysis, etc.
**You will be supporting NIPSCO’s largest customers, analyzing their consumption patterns, and gaining exposure to field processes. You’ll work in tandem with 2 other analysts supporting the Industrial Billing team on a hybrid schedule (onsite Tuesdays + Wednesdays). Prior utility experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
Essential Functions
- Analyzes and investigates gas and electric data to identify and solve for gaps, inconsistencies or anomalies through meter data validation, estimation and editing techniques for large volume customer consumption data. Analyzes meter time corrections and troubleshoots meter exchanges. Solutions errors to allow for timely and accurate billing and reporting.
- Systematically collects, processes and analyzes timely and accurate C&I customer gas and electric consumption data from point of meter reading to billing.
- Analyzes customer consumption data and produces reports and queries, which are used as inputs in various processes by Billing, Regulatory, MISO Transmission, Major Accounts, Customer Service, and other teams.
- Transmits customer consumption data to the industrial billing system and to the Load Research System database for billing and reporting purposes upon completing data validation.
- Configures new meter system setups to enable remote interrogation capabilities and resolve meter maintenance issues through collaboration with electric field personnel.
- Analyzes and verifies sample design and selection for representative data populations to support company and regulatory initiatives, including rate cases.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with Industrial Billing, Regulatory, Field Operations, IT, Major Accounts, MISO Transmission group.
- Performs stratification, totalization and other load research statistical techniques on sample data to provide accurate results as input to regulatory reporting needs.
- Works with IT to maintain the integrity of pertinent software and databases, applying software upgrades and backups as necessary.
Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor's Degree Business, accounting, analytics, engineering, other quantitative discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Keen attention to detail and advanced analytical abilities. High
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and software, specifically Excel and Access. High
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a member of a team. High
- Polished ability to communicate verbally and through written reports and summaries. Medium
- Proficiency in CIS and MV-90 xi. Medium
- Understanding of day-to-day cross-functional utility operations and, including Field Operations, Customer Operations, Rates and Regulatory, Finance and Accounting, Engineering, etc. Low
- Working knowledge of gas and electric tariffs, rules, and regulations. Low
- Working knowledge of gas and electric billing determinants and units of measure (i.e. kWh, kVar, kW, power factor, therms, BTU, etc.) Low
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- 1-3 years Working in the regulated utility industry.

Salary Range:
$77,400.00 - $116,200.00Posting Start Date:
