BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Perform transfers of hazardous and non-hazardous products in compliance with training provided in accordance with work instructions and government regulations (EPA, FRA and OSHA).
- Climb to heights up to 60' to perform inspections as needed.
- Inspect and seal railcars.
- Inspect equipment using checklists.
- Check fluid on equipment.
- Operate Kubota Tractor and Kubota Utility Vehicle.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (including changing oil, starters, batteries, clutches).
- Perform structural inspections.
- Perform mechanical inspections using checklists.
- Prepare products for transferring.
- Perform all duties safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Participate in daily Safety/Quality talks.
- Report all incidents and near misses.
- Understand and comply with Shipper Confidentiality when discussing Shipper Accounts.
- Perform all daily housekeeping duties to include bathrooms, windows, sweeping, mopping, trash pick-up, weed control, mowing grass, washing equipment / accessories, shoveling, drains, break rooms and shop areas.
- Comply with cross training as required.
- Understand and comply with all requirements of an Emergency Coordinator, including maintaining hazardous waste transfer facility logs, / manifests and signing manifests, as required.
- Other duties as trained and assigned.
Minimum Requirements include: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
- Must have experience using hand tools (pneumatic impact wrenches, seal cutters, etc.)
- General Knowledge in operation and monitoring of gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Experience in operation and control (operations of equipment or systems).
- Hazmat experience a plus.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.
- Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week, weekends, and holidays as dictated by operations, there is no set schedule.
- In order to appropriately perform essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.
- Monitors own work to ensure quality and strives to increase productivity.
- Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio.
- Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials properly and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to carry out orders and instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC: - Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
- The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan's rules and policies.
- Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
- Ability to identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, reach, etc. for extended periods of time.
- This position consist of outside work and adverse weather conditions may apply.
- Must be able to climb to heights up to 60' feet.
- Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, frequent vibration, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, uneven terrain and high noise level in the work environment.
- Consistently lift, carry and pulling, pushing weights, and forces up to 80 pounds.
- Routinely gripping forces of up to 80 pounds.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE - Experience operating mobile equipment (Kubota Utility Vehicle, Kubota tractor).
- First Aid / CPR certification helpful.
