About the Job
Idaho Forest Group is currently seeking a Log Yard Utility to join our Grangeville team. The Log Yard Utility is responsible for maintaining the log yard watering system and log yard clean up. The Log Yard Utility will also run the water truck, assist with the operation of log yard equipment and assist the Scalers with their duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs
- Thorough understanding of log deck watering systems and maintenance
- Proficient in operation of Log Yard ATV, pickup, water truck, manlift and sky track and backhoe
- Must be willing to become proficient in the operation of LeTourneau’s and wheel loader
- Must have the ability to fill in as relief operator as needed
- Must learn to sort logs by species, diameter and length at production level pace
- Must be willing to learn to unload trucks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- High school diploma or GED (or willingness to quickly obtain one as a condition of employment)
- Valid Driver's license is highly preferred
- Have a good safety record
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Self-motivated
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable working at heights of up to 40’
- Ability to safely maneuver over log decks
- Willingness to assist in other departments as needed
- Good verbal and written communicate skills
- Ability to adjust work schedule, perform shift work, work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements:
Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
