SUMMARY:
The person in this position ensures that the processes and procedures for cross-functional activities are seamless and standardized, to support both international operations and the needs of our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as point person for all communication with customers
- Receive source documents and check them for accuracy
- Coordinate cross-department efforts for proper billing
- Enter data into Wabtec software system: TMS, BI
- Oversee waybills for customer shipments; manage car inventory to reduce car-hire expenses
- Tracks and monitors customer shipments and proactively works to resolve issues delaying shipments.
- Maintain relationships with partner railroads and troubleshoot delayed railcars.
- Proactively communicate relevant information to internal team and external customers
- Coordinate cross-department efforts for proper billing
- Resolves complex service and system issues, as well as other problems that may arise
- Generate car management reports.
- Maintain CGR boxcar fleet and car assignments.
- Ensures shipments are Customs compliant and follows up with brokers/customers as needed.
- Interacts with Custom’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system and manifests Ocean Bills of Ladings.
- Actively engage in company safety culture
- Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of railroads, billing, and paperwork
- Knowledge of Wabtec TMS and Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Five years of relevant experience with at least two years experience working in an import/export role.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
