About the Job
The Logistics and Safety Supervisor is responsible for the following:
- Ensuring and improving the performance of Safety and storage/transportation processes.
- Provide leadership and span of control of logistics employees, drivers, and warehouse space throughout all Calva sites.
- Perform quality checks, review purchase orders, and prepare products for delivery across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with transportation systems to ensure prompt shipment pick-ups and monitor shipment costs.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, DOT compliance, delegate work assignments to drivers, and manage databases.
- Manage facilitation of monthly cycle counts at all Calva sites.
- Site Safety Lead.
- Monitor all departments to ensure health and safety standards are followed.
- Update and analyze monthly EHS metrics to improve site safety results.
- Manage EHS Programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead EHS audits/inspections and ensure compliance of all EHS trainings.
- Supervise logistics personnel/processes to ensure orders are delivered to customers timely and inbound orders are properly received.
- Liaise with Customer Service to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
- Schedule employees, establish priorities and oversee delivery schedules to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Manage Calva fleet and ensure DOT compliance.
- Make recommendations for new assets or the replacement of old ones.
- Inventory Leader; Responsible for overseeing monthly cycle counts for all Calva locations. Analyze results, identify trends, and drive actions to improve material yield.
- Take charge of investigations concerning customer complaints with regards to product delivery and other transportation-associated issues
- Work closely with Plant Manager and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation.
- Oversee ingredient monitoring to ensure adequate materials are in stock and utilized before expiry.
- Review purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee the hiring, orienting, counseling, compensation process, and training of shipping and logistics employees to ensure a competent workforce.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Experience-Education Required:
- Associate's degree and 3 -5 years working experience in a similar role or capacity OR
- High school diploma plus 5 - 7 years previous management experience in a food or feed manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility and scope, i.e. strategic planning, project management, supervision, training, etc. will be accepted in lieu of coursework.
Experience-Education Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree
Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 based on experience
