Summary
Logistics supervisors are pivotal players in the manufacturing process. They help companies identify problems as they manufacture, store, and ship products.
The voice of the Logistics Supervisor impacts all aspects of the manufacturing process. Candidates should be strong communicators who love to collaborate with others.
Supply chain management requires an understanding of inventory control, manufacturing, and warehousing to meet production and financial goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage day to day logistics operations including but not limited to inbound receiving, accurate warehousing, material delivery, and outbound shipments.
- Assign jobs to all operators at start of shift and ensure all requirements are covered throughout the shift.
- Perform daily audits of hourly operators’ tasks.
- Properly update payroll daily.
- Follow escalation protocols to various levels of management when you encounter various issues.
- Verify standardized work and safety rules are being followed and issue discipline when needed.
- Ensure outbound shipments to customers ship on time and accurately.
- Lead team meetings and safety talks.
- Conduct accurate inventory counts and make corrections in SAP.
- Keep detailed records, generate reports, and develop presentations to help management understand the logistics perspective.
- Ensure daily overtime equalization is complete.
- Build relationships within the company and with external parties, such as suppliers or distributors.
- Protect production lines from downtime by ensuring they have components delivered to the lines by your employees.
- Collaborate with others from diverse backgrounds to identify problems and find solutions.
- Participate in annual physical inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain management, or related field.
- 2 years supervisory experience in automotive industry preferred.
- Ability to manage up to 50 hourly employees and multiple different processes.
- Previous experience in a union environment.
- Must be able to multi-task in a high stress environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.
- Must be able to work some weekends.
- Must have a customer service mindset.
