Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Hospital Medicine APP for their Long-Term Acute Care Hospital—RUSH Specialty Hospital. The new 100-bed facility will be a combined critical illness recovery and inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the Rush University Medical Center campus. The hospital is slated to open in early 2024 and will feature 44 critical illness recovery and 56 inpatient rehabilitation beds. The RUSH Specialty Hospital will be outfitted with the latest technology. The APP in this role will work in rotating shifts in collaboration with a hospital medicine physician.
This APP Hospitalist position offers unique opportunities:
- RUSH is expanding care to critical illness recovery & inpatient rehabilitation patients in our new state of the art facility via a joint venture with Select Medical
- Provide direct care to critical illness recovery & inpatient rehabilitation patient populations on a Hospitalist team of Physicians and APPs with a dedicated APP leader

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.
