Loss Recovery Analyst - 120 - Food City Corporate Center (Abingdon, VA) - Food City

Summary:Perform a variety of daily loss recovery (collections) duties with a concentration toward recovery of revenue loss at retail store or corporate level, due to returned personal, business, government, or payroll check items.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Direct customer contact by phone, e-mail, or letter in pursuit of financial recovery for returned worthless checks presented at our retail stores or at our Corporate Offices
• Adhere to laws regarding collection of debts as established by the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA)
• Discuss and establish fair and practical payment arrangements with debtors
• Evaluate likelihood of debt recovery to determine proper course of action to resolve the debt
• Utilize location and skip-tracing methods to locate debtors to educate of their debt and attain commitment to payment arrangements
• Thorough documentation of incident detail recorded within Collections System for possible escalation to ORC Team to investigate for potential criminal warrants
• Enforcement of company policies regarding check presentment for purchase or check cashing
• Forward uncollectible debtor accounts to 3rd party collections agency for Attorney Collections
• Prepare accounts involving checks written on a closed account or connected to fraud or theft for escalation to ORC Team to investigate for potential criminal warrants
• Communicate regularly with all levels of management, both in stores and at Corporate
• Work closely with and in support of ORC Team 
• Process payments by Credit/Debit Card for collections of monies owed
• Assist in managing MSB Compliance files and documents
• Track department metric and KPI data for assigned areas
• Responsible for attending on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties
• Ensure both departmental and company policy and procedures are followed

Additional Job Responsibilities:

• Understand and follow confidentiality policies, pertaining to confidentiality and data integrity
• Any other tasks as assigned by Direct Supervisor or Executive Company Official 
• Utilize time management skills and prioritize tasks, to meet business needs of the organization
• Proper handling and security of vital department reports and confidential documents
• Follow all safety and security measures and guidelines

Qualifications:

• High school graduate, with a minimum two-year college degree or equivalent work experience in a related field. 
• 1-2 years Collections experience (preferred)
• 1-2 years Customer Service experience (preferred)
• Basic knowledge of debit and credit bookkeeping principles.
• Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks
• Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as additional time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
