Job Description:
As the Low-Voltage Systems Estimator, you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with our vendors, business development team, and design teams to produce accurate bid packages for all our low-voltage systems, including CCTV, access control, Audiovisual, Wireless, Client, and Structured Cabling systems. This critical role in the low-voltage systems division is based in Columbia, MD.
This position offers a great opportunity to grow within the organization and work closely with key players - internal and external. It is a fast-paced role requiring attention to detail, a can-do attitude, self-management, and the ability to quickly turn around deliverables to clients and team members. The candidate should be comfortable communicating regularly and quickly with all parties via email, text, phone calls, and in person. He or she should also be comfortable working in Excel and with numbers for budgeting purposes.

Position Responsibilities

• Manage the estimating process from beginning to end, including timelines, deadlines, and estimating packages.
• Communicate with vendors and clients to build relationships, define the project scope, address any deficiencies, and negotiate pricing.
• Research quotes for material and labor from our suppliers and subcontractors.
• Continuously follow up on all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards.
• Partner with construction project management team to properly transfer awarded projects.

• Stay up to date with current technology trends in low-voltage systems.
• Review and understand RFP/RFQ documents from customers and supports request for information (RFI) process as it pertains to the low voltage and related WSFO items of the projects.
• Identify project risks and/or challenges as part of the solution process.
• Identify labor, material, costs, and time requirements by researching proposals, blueprints, and any related documents.
• Comfortable making site
  • Local site surveys will be required within the VA, DC, MD area.
• Assist in proposal development of the deliverable.
• Maintain a well-organized database of bid documents for reference upon award of contract to manage the kickoff process
• Flexibility to adapt to changing customer priorities and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in low voltage integration projects, with 2 or more years of technical low voltage estimating experience.
• Knowledge of commercial low voltage technologies (WiFi, CCTV, access controls, and structured cabling systems), including products from industry leaders, with industry and/or manufacturer training and certifications as a plus.
• Knowledge of Security, Lighting Controls and/or Audio Visuals is a plus
• Create shop drawings and other related documentation for potential change orders during project execution.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret construction documents and bid proposals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and estimating software.
• Ability to maintain excellent relationships and provide a high level of customer service.
• Proven track record of estimating numerous large-scale low voltage / IT projects and leading cross-functional teams, including field team.
• Strong understanding of current technology trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to understand blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
