Low Voltage Field Technician
Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Field Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of low-voltage systems, including Cat6 cabling, access control, security camera systems, and fiber optic cabling. The position requires frequent travel to various job sites to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and terminate Cat6 and fiber optic cabling, ensuring proper routing and connection.
- Set up and configure access control systems, including keycard and biometric readers.
- Install, configure, and maintain security camera systems, including CCTV and IP-based systems.
- Test terminations and verify system functionality for network cabling and fiber optics using appropriate testing equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of low-voltage systems as needed.
- Follow industry standards and best practices for low voltage installations (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI).
- Maintain accurate records of installations, testing results, and job site progress.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to complete projects on time and within scope.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and company policies while working on-site.
- Provide excellent customer service, representing the company professionally at all times.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in low voltage installations, including Cat6, fiber optics, access control, and security camera systems.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; additional technical certifications (e.g., BICSI, CompTIA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in terminating, testing, and troubleshooting Cat6 and fiber optic cables.
- Familiarity with access control systems, including both hardware and software components.
- Experience installing and configuring camera systems, both analog and IP.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficient in using cabling testers, punch-down tools, and other industry-standard tools.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders as needed.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time to various job sites. Some overnight stays may be required.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, ability to pass a background check and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as BICSI Technician, CompTIA Network+, or relevant low-voltage certifications.
- Experience with fire alarm and intercom systems.
- OSHA safety certification.
