Summary
The Lower School Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the Scheck Hillel instructional program in a primary or elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their individual academic and social-emotional potential. Specifically, this position is designed to implement and realize the Scheck Hillel educational vision for students & faculty.
The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, a strong background in education and a genuine love for teaching children. The Lower School General Studies Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in the Lower School a variety of subjects and skills.

Students

Responsibilities
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and encourages student engagement colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective curriculum.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning that meet the needs of all learners.
- Communicate clear learning targets & success criteria to students for all learning activities.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Develop formative and summative assessments in accordance with established procedures.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom to facilitate learning.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development as required by laws and school policies.
- Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents on their child’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements.
- Maintain safety & security of the students in the classroom and common school areas.
- Supervise students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
- Attend all parent teacher conferences, back to school nights, faculty meetings, and substitute in one class per week as needed.
- Supervise lunch and recess.
- Support the team with carpool and dismissal procedures.
- Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practices
Qualifications
- Dedication to creating a nurturing and challenging learning environment for our students
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field; Master's degree preferred
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a lower school setting
- Valid teaching certification, preferred
- Strong knowledge of pedagogical practices and learning theories
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
