About the Job
LPN Palliative Care
Duties:
- Provides full range of nursing care to patients and families in the Palliative Care Program under the supervision of an RN.
- Provides personal care such as bathing.
- Monitors patients' medical conditions and provides accurate reports to attending physicians as appropriate and to the patients' RN.
- Works in an interdisciplinary care setting to teach, assist, and support patient/family with the dying process.
- Carries out the pain management and symptom management plan to keep the patient as comfortable as possible.
- Reassesses pain and notifies the registered nurse when pain is not manageable on the current medications.
- Responds to the physical, mental, social, and emotional needs of terminally ill patients and their families.
- Provides care within all service areas of Hospice of Huntington, Inc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- License to practice by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Must also possess license in Ohio or application must be in progress.
- Minimum of 1-year patient care experience; hospice or home health preferred.
- Proof of liability insurance.
- Current driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Philosophy compatible with the hospice concept.
- Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling.
- Possesses the ability to travel to all of Hospice of Huntington’s service area.
