Intern, Plant Modeling and Simulation Engineer, Summer 2024
We are currently seeking an Intern for our Plant Modeling and Simulation team. This position requires a passionate student with a basic understanding of EV architecture and a passion for working on EVs. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. Role/Responsibilities:
· Work with cross-function team to identify requirements for plant models for MIL/SIL/HIL testing
· Support development of real-time Simulation Models using MATLAB/Simulink & Sim-Scape, for testing of integrated controllers using Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL)
· Work with other modeling engineers to create a closed-loop vehicle model in Matlab/Simulink
· Create scripts to automate the integration of the closed-loop vehicle model.
· Work with requirement owners to establish validation metrics for plant models.
· Validate component, sub-system, or full system model against actual vehicle data from the field
· Document and track modeling issues as appropriate and participate in triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution
· Implement Simulation Speed improvements as well as improve model fidelity/functionality
· Help with scalability of model for new and upcoming applications
Preferred Qualifications:
· Understand the basics of EV architecture.
· Experience in participating in competitions like Formula SAE
· Strong background in mechanical, electrical, or thermal systems modeling
· Experience with real-time simulation models developed using MATLAB/Simulink
· Experience in modeling mechanical or electro-mechanical components
· Exposure to full vehicle simulation
· Understanding of MIL/SIL/PIL/HIL simulation methodologies
· Willingness to learn new tools and modeling methods
· Field(s) of study: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
· Will consider undergrads Junior level or above Pursuing Bachelor's or master's degree
· Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS, PhD)
