Lunch Aide, Early Morning, Recess Aide, and Crossing Guard

Job Summary

Lunch Aide/Recess Aide:

• Supervises students in the cafeteria during meals.
• Maintains regular attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Circulates among the tables during mealtime to assist children and resolve problems.
• Supervises students and maintains a cooperative atmosphere during recess.
• Circulates among students and resolves minor problems as they arise.
• Informs building administration immediately of any serious disciplinary problems.
• Ensures that students follow cafeteria rules and procedures.
• Assists with cleaning up spills and ensuring tables and floors are clean.
• Provides assistance to students with special needs as required.
• Encourages positive social interactions among students.
• Communicate any health or safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Monitors and manages the noise level in the cafeteria and playground.
• Provides support during indoor recess activities in case of inclement weather.
• Assists in organizing and supervising games and activities during recess.

Early Morning Aide and Crossing Guard:

• Directs or escorts pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as necessary.
• Guides or controls vehicular or pedestrian traffic at designated locations.
• Monitors traffic flow to identify safe gaps for pedestrians to cross streets.

Physical Demands:

• Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
• Requires effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
• Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
• Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
