Job Description:
SUMMARY: Provides nursing care, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or physician, in accordance with the legal scope of practice and within established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Integrates education, technical competence and patient interaction skills to gain confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers. Exercises sound judgment and developed clinical skills to implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Supports the functionality of the department by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety to help deliver optimal patient care.

- Facility: Sutter Health
- Shift: 5 x 8 Days M-F; alternating bi - weekly schedules (shift 1: 0600-1430, shift 2: 0930-1800)
- Job Duration: 5 weeks (With potential to convert into FTE or high possibility of extension)
- Pay Range: $35/hr to $37/hr
- -CA LVN License
- -BLS (AHA)
- -Graduate of an accredited school of Vocational Nursing
- -1 year recent relevant experience
- -Fluent in English (writing, speaking, comprehension)

Responsibilities:
NURSING SERVICES
- Performs patient care activities, within the scope of competency, considering age-related needs of the patient as assigned.
- Assist medical personnel with special procedures, minor surgical procedures and/or diagnostic exams.
- Assess and monitor patients' condition and notify physician/health care professional for disposition.
- Reports unusual findings to the physician and/or RN and contributes recommendations for revision to the plan of care.
- Collaborates with physician and/or RN to develop individualized plan of care that reflects clinical findings, planning, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of that plan
- Monitors patients progress based on the plan. Assures care meets standards of practice.
- Discusses patient findings and progress toward outcomes with physicians, Registered Nurse, and other members of the health care team.
- Prepares for and assists RNs and physicians in a variety of medical procedures and patient examinations.
- Keeps health care team members informed regarding patient responses to interventions.
- Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician order, following established protocols.
- Monitor patient flow and assign/direct other ancillary personnel as needed.
- Maintains equipment and understands procedures and treatments performed by physicians.
- Explains and educates the patient on process of examinations, tests and medical procedures in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety.
- Mentors and fosters a constructive environment that helps students and new LVNs build confidence in their skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones; updating patient appointments; or retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic health records (EHR).
- Prepares and completes accurate documentation related to patient, including all treatment performed, in medical and departmental records as required.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after each procedure.
- Inspects and calibrates equipment accordingly for proper operation and records the quality control (QC) results, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
- Performs quality care in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.
- Prepares, administers, and documents medications and treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.
