Job Summary:
The Machine Builder will be responsible for assembling and building complex packaging machines from start to finish, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. The role involves reading blueprints, performing assembly, ensuring quality control, and conducting tests on completed machines. This position requires strong technical skills and attention to detail to meet the high standards required in packaging machinery production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Assembly: Build packaging machinery from blueprints and technical drawings, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and functionality of all components.
- Electrical & Pneumatic Installation: Assemble and install electrical components and pneumatic systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshooting & Testing: Diagnose and resolve issues during the assembly process. Test and fine-tune machines to ensure they operate correctly before delivery.
- Modification & Upgrades: Modify existing machines or systems to meet new specifications or performance standards.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers, designers, and other technical staff to improve designs or solve assembly problems.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of assembly processes, including modifications and testing results.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly in an industrial setting, preferably in packaging machinery.
- Strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, and pneumatic/electrical diagrams.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, as well as measurement devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for logging build progress and test results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the packaging or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of automated systems or PLC programming.
- Familiarity with safety standards in industrial environments.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or relevant certifications preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in machine building, preferably in packaging or related machinery industries.
