Alpine, an ITW company, currently has an opening for a Machine Equipment Operator II - 2nd Shift (6 pm - 4:30 am) in its Litchfield, IL facility to produce connector plates by operating press machines to cut and punch steel by size and shape. Starting pay is $19+ an hour.

Job DescriptionSummary:
Produce quality connector plates of various sizes and types in an efficient and cost effective manner by operating machines to cut out parts of specified size and shape from metal by performing the following duties.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the press and related equipment is properly set up for production. NOTE: Failure to do this could cause damage to the equipment or personal injury.
- Able to run all sizes on the stacker press at 90% of target SPM for a full operational shift on a consistent basis
- Ensure set up of control panel is correct and box feeding system on bulk automation is functioning properly.
- Review auto palletizing operation for correct stacking pattern locations and is operating properly.
- Start machine daily, checks oil, coolant, and grease and applies if necessary and keeps metal and die lubricated as necessary. Performs daily equipment maintenance as stated on the maintenance check sheets.
- Maintain production run sheets ensuring that all information is documented and accurate.
- Ensures that the product is handled and packaged in the correct manner. Refers to the products quality data sheet or asks Supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains immediate work area on a daily basis.
- Turns in the production run sheet at the end of the shift, ensuring that all of information on the sheet is accurate and legible.
- Notifies maintenance personnel if machine needs other than basic maintenance attention.
- If plates are to be shipped in boxes, ensure the appropriate number of plates is placed in each box as the product is produced.
- Assembles boxes necessary for daily production and records boxes produced as required by Production Supervisor.
- Follows all safety rules and reports any identified hazards to the Supervisor.
- Follows all required lockout - tag out procedures before doing any type of maintenance to machines. Wears all protective equipment required by company including but not limited to: gloves, ear protection, safety glasses, respirator, etc.
- Communicates with coworkers, management, staff, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Acts, dresses, and behaves in a professional manner to reflect a positive image of the organization.
- Provides high quality customer service to all internal and external customers.
- On a rotating basis, stack specified configurations of trays or boxes on pallet and move to the pallet wrapper.
- On a rotating basis, supply the line with packaging corrugated box materials.
- Provide training to end-of-line palletizer operators as needed.
- Provide feedback to machine operator as needed while functioning as a palletizer operator on a rotating basis.
- Perform material handling functions as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have the ability to communicate, understand, follow, and interpret technical and non-technical information in both written and verbal means as commonly found in the metal forming industry. All documents are written in standard English.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Have good eye-hand coordination. Have the ability to learn how to operate the departments tooling, equipment, and measuring devices. Mechanical aptitude and previous machine operation experience would be helpful.
