Position: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Scientist
About the Role: Lynntech, Inc. has an opening for an AI/ML Scientist to develop novel platforms for frontier challenges. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant R&D experience, including any relevant graduate studies, and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Designing, developing, and evaluating product-focused solutions using machine learning methods, deep learning, computer vision, or natural language processing.
- Collaborating on complex problems to provide customized product solutions using machine learning.
- Evaluating AI algorithm performance.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Candidates with one or more of the following additional skills and experiences are highly desired:
- Expertise in Signal Processing and/or Control Systems Engineering.
- Expertise in Computer Vision, particularly in alternative imaging domains such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) or hyperspectral imaging.
- Familiarity with Generative methods (e.g., GANs, Transformers, Diffusion Models).
- Knowledge of AI Explainability methods (e.g., SHAP, LIME).
- Understanding of AI Security (e.g., Adversarial Examples, Federated Learning, Differential Privacy).
- PhD-level research applying Math, Science, or Statistics to implement computer analysis solutions (e.g., Physics, Astronomy, Medical Imaging, Aerospace, Geo-spatial Intelligence, etc.).
- Training and validating scalable ML models in platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Google Cloud AI Platform, Amazon SageMaker, or Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, demonstrated through publicly available code, publications, videos, or presentations.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, and optionally C and C++.
- Platform agnostic, with the ability to work on Microsoft Windows, Linux, or MacOS.
- Experience putting models into production.
- Experience developing/adapting models for edge compute systems.
- Experience developing models targeting novel/research-grade accelerators and compute hardware, such as spiking, analog, or other neuromorphic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Secure Funding:
- Understand the problem / customer need through research and inquiry.
- Write and submit research proposals to federal agencies.
- Obtain regular funding as the primary author of research proposals.
- Design and Execute Experiments:
- Plan and conduct experiments to test hypotheses.
- Analyze and interpret experimental results.
- Prepare Reports:
- Draft high-quality progress reports for funding agencies.
- Ensure timely submission of all required deliverables.
- Identify Intellectual Property:
- Recognize potential intellectual property from research activities.
- Assist in the preparation of draft patent applications.
- Prepare Technology for Transition into the Marketplace:
- Work with and/or lead multidisciplinary team to develop prototype system.
- Identify other opportunities to apply and grow our technology portfolio.

The selected candidate(s) will join the Intelligent Systems unit at Lynntech, where we develop systems to provide actionable information by transforming and analyzing data in challenging application environments. Our current areas of focus include intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and security, navigation and tracking, and the health and life sciences, but we welcome new expertise to expand and enhance our capabilities.
Location:
Our facilities are located in College Station, Texas, near Texas A&M University, and centrally located near Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston.
