Summary:
The Operator Technician will maintain and operate equipment in an assigned department. The position is responsible for maintaining optimum levels of production efficiency, spoilage and quality levels while working in a safe manner and complying with all Safety and Quality procedures. Additional shift differential for nights at $2.00/hr. Will train and certify on forklift.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Operate assigned production equipment in the department
- Perform daily safety checks to ensure safe work habits exist and correct hazards
- Maintain cans, ends, and auxiliary equipment
- Production and quality assurance checks and documentation
- Perform frequent dimensional and visual quality checks
- Assisting in trial runs (SMA’s)
- Participate where needed in installation of new equipment
- Takes responsibility for 5S/Housekeeping stages, waste elimination through workplace organization.
- Participate in LSS (Lean Six Sigma) projects
- Demonstrate Food Safety policies, GMP’s, and HACCP
- Make recommendations for process improvements.
- Conduct inventory of materials to ensure sufficient stock to maintain operations.
- Be available for callouts in cases of emergencies and breakdowns.
- Operates forklifts safely.
- Sorting defective product
- Support packaging/ Palletizer systems
- Provides break relief assistance
- All other duties as assigned by Management
Experience & Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Mechanical experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred
- Ability to operate equipment safely.
- Working knowledge of measuring devices
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with good communication skills
- Demonstrates attention to details
- Proven problem-solving experience
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret written documentation
- Basic computer skills
- Mechanical aptitude with Electrical knowledge a plus
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Must be team oriented with good energy and initiative
- Ability to work any shift including 12-hour shifts, weekend shifts, holidays, etc.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and work in confined spaces. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and frequently lift 1-50 pounds. There is no continual lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision as well as color recognition. Good hand/eye coordination is necessary.

Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (95 degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.
