ERM is hiring a Machine Operations andSafety Instructor to support our technology client in Santa Clara, CA. The Machine Operations and Safety Instructor will be responsible for training staff in the proper use of tools and equipment in a R&D facility setting. This is a part-time (16 hours/week), limited-term role for a duration of one year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Focus on the safe and proper operation of machine tools using wood, metal, plastics, and 3D printers.
Instruct employees in the proper procedures to layout parts and the correct use of hand tools.
Instruct employees in the proper procedures to set up and operate a manual lathe, including tools, tool holding devices, and work holding.
Instruct employees in the proper procedures to set up and operate a manual milling machine, including tools, tool holding, and work holding.
Instruct employees in the proper procedures to set up and operate a surface grinder.
Curriculum Development:
Design and update course materials, including lesson plans, manuals, and handouts.
Develop practical exercises and projects that reinforce theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice.
Instruction and Training:
Teach employees the safe and proper use of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
Demonstrate machine operation techniques, emphasizing accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
Provide individualized instruction to employees to ensure comprehension and skill mastery.
Safety Management:
Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures in the machine shop.
Conduct regular safety training sessions and ensure employees are knowledgeable about emergency procedures.
Inspect machinery and equipment regularly to ensure they are in safe working condition.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is a plus.
7+ years of experience in a shop safety training environment; experience as a high school or community college CTE-credentialed educator in machinery, automotive, woodworking or similar is beneficial.
Experience in a professional R&D environment is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient technical skills, including, but not limited to, experience using Microsoft Office programs.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in the operation of various machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machinery.
Knowledge of machining techniques, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools.
Safety Knowledge:
Strong understanding of machine shop safety practices and OSHA regulations.
Ability to conduct safety training and enforce safety protocols.

Pay Transparency:
For the Machine Operations andSafety Instructor position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $78,475 - $86,827, $37.72/hr - $41.74/hr, limited-term, non-exempt. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).

*Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.
