Currently, hours are 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. (However, depending on production needs, they may change to M-F, 6 a.m.-5 p.m.)
The Small Pack Operator is responsible for operating all equipment used in the production of finished goods in accordance with process and quality standards to meet the production schedules assigned. That is, they will perform production activities and operate production equipment in accordance with BRC requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), as well as all Illes SOPs, Quality standards, and time sequences. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Check bulk materials, film, ribbon, cases, shaker bottles, and label information against the batch sheet. Select and load the correct pouch and case label files and enter variable information. Review the pouch and case labels and get approval from the QA technician.
- Learning how to set up pouch filling machine per standard machine settings and ensure correct tooling is in place, clean, and in good condition. Operating the pouch filler per established procedures with some assistance.
- Follow production sequence and perform all job changeover procedures
- Observe production or monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure conformance to established standards, especially seal integrity, print quality, and weight.
- Perform periodic seal leak testing.
- Report equipment malfunctions to team leaders, Supervisors or maintenance staff
- Observe work and Human Machine Interface (HMI) and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
- Collect samples with the necessary information for testing.
- Learn how to fill pouches with the specified label weight or volume accurately.
- Maintain SPC charts and adjust the machine as needed.
- Training on how to operate or be efficient at operating 1 filling machine for small pack production.
- Load materials and products into package processing equipment.
- Stack finished containers on pallets per specifications.
- Learning to accurately punch in, make, and fill times on the batch sheet through RiteTime.
- Clean and maintain equipment, using hand tools in accordance with health and safety standards
- Mark and label containers, container tags, or products using marking tools.
- Learning how to complete job outputs in Ross, apply LPNs, and move finished goods to the warehouse.
- Safely operate one production processing line, packaging, and powered industrial equipment.
- Maintain appropriate and professional written and verbal communication.
- Ensure that food safety, legality, and quality standards are always maintained.
- Learning how to operate a forklift.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
- Regular attendance is a requirement of this position for scheduled shifts.
Minimum Job Requirements:
EDUCATION | High School or Equivalent or the ability to obtain same within the specified time. | |
EXPERIENCE | Minimum 1 year of Food Industry Experience plus 6 months of Small Packaging Equipment experience required. | |

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to crouch and bend.
- Ability to handle 55 gallon drums after training
- Ability to lift 100# with assistance
- Ability to lift 56# continuously
- Ability to stand continuously
- Ability to tilt over and pour out up to 500# with assistance
- Bend, stoop, climb, reach above shoulders, crouch, push and pull frequently
- Use feet, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders constantly.
- Work while standing on a 7‐step ladder with rails.
