SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for operating machines, such as those to blend ingredients into compounds for processing by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Must be able to troubleshoot, maintain, fabricate, support, and assist maintenance employees with repairs to production floor equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Loads ingredients into mixing machine hopper from conveyor, scales, or handtrucks, or directs other workers in performing this task.
- Starts machine and adjusts valves to admit steam or cooling fluids to steam jacket or devices in mixing chamber to aid in blending and densifying mixture.
- Operates machine and monitors assembly machine controls.
- Ensure assembly machines are functioning properly and make required adjustments if the equipment malfunctions.
- Inspect products for measurement and quality and separate defective products.
- Maintain a safe and clean production area.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2-3 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3 years’ experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); working near moving mechanical parts; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather), and moderate to loud noise levels.
