Position Overview:
Skana Aluminum is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Slitter Technician to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining slitting machinery to produce high-quality aluminum coils according to customer specifications. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure efficiency and safety in the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate slitting machines to process aluminum coils according to job orders and customer specifications.
- Adjust slitter settings, tension control, and machine speeds, to ensure precise cuts and efficient operation.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on slitting equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality, ensuring adherence to company standards and customer requirements.
- Monitor production processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with quality control and production teams to resolve any issues related to material defects or equipment performance.
- Accurately complete production reports, including material usage, downtime, and any other relevant data.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
- Assist in training and mentoring new team members on proper slitter operation and safety protocols.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement to enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machine operation or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience operating slitting machines in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aluminum or metal processing industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Work Environment
This position is in a plant environment which includes frequent exposure to heat, noise, moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic. You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses and safety shoes.
