Job Summary: The Machine Operator prepares and operates computerized equipment, i.e. high-pressured water jet, to process/produce high quality. Focusing on materials, equipment and company standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates equipment according to instructions, specifications, and standard work instructions.
Reads job cards and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
Sets and adjusts necessary controls to run equipment.
Has focused attention to detail and ability to understand and spot material imperfections and adjust/figure out resolutions.
Read, understand and interpret blueprints to accomplish assignment.
Ability to use and read tape measurements and incorporate mathematical equations to ensure accurate material size.
Responsible for operation, loading and unloading material and parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
Understands math decimals and fractions and able to calculate them.
Understands standard and metric measurements and is able to convert from one to the other.
Studies and interprets blueprint drawings, manuals, specifications, job cards and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
Communicates all production related items to other machine/water jet operators/supervisors.
Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
Accurately record time and production numbers daily/report scrap
Conforms to the company’s culture of quality, service and continuous improvement, while taking personal responsibility for own actions and treating fellow employees, customers and vendors respectfully and ethically.
Meets or exceeds production run rate/quota expectations per each job to maintain job scheduling and due date deliveries.
As needed, assigned “Champion Role” in keeping shop inventory stocked, organized and clean. Submits requisition form to Manager when supplies/inventory is needed.
Committed to clients quality policy, strives to do their best in following clients quality standards and at all times provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
Follows all company and OSHA Safety regulations; works in a safe manner and uses personal protective equipment as instructed; reinforces housekeeping and clients core values.

Maintains list of pending and completed responsibilities and checklists as needed.
Seeks out work and assignments when caught up on workload by asking Management.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean, neat, clutter-free and organized. Performs basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
May perform other duties as required/assigned by management, including but not limited to: material set-up, gluing, material handling, plucking or packing of parts.
Education and Experience :
Previous experience is preferred, but not required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
Job training for this position is provided by Department Trainers.
Must have a current valid NY driver’s license and submit a copy to Human Resources prior to driving for business purposes and/or a company vehicle.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Waterjet experience a plus
Ability to read and write effectively.
Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
Understands math decimals and fractions and is able to calculate them.
Understands standard and metric measurements and is able to convert from one to the other.
Understanding in blue print reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation.
Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.
Proven ability to successfully multi-task.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Details: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour
