Overview
Perform machine tending operations and processes; count, stage and record finished parts. Remove burrs and sharp edges from manufactured parts using hand grinders, dynafiles, Burr Master and Tumbler.
Responsibilities
- Pull finished laser cut parts from the load tables and stack on carts.
- Operate hand/air tools and electric grinders.
- Verify part counts to the number of parts nested by the laser programmer.
- Locate parts that have fallen to the ground through the table grates.
- Accurately complete the Work Order paperwork.
- Attach applicable part tags.
- Move laser cut parts to the correct locations based on the next operation as dictated on the Job Travelers.
- Empty the slag pans daily.
- Clean the floor under the load table daily at specified time(s).
- Complete daily 5S requirements.
- Clean the lasers weekly.
- Assist in other duties as requested by trainer, manager or supervisor.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school or general education degree (GED).
- Machine shop experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Complete standardized written documentation and correspondence.
- Professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to perform basic electronic tasks using computer software and Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to stand; use hands and fingers to manipulate raw materials, finished parts and cutting tools
- Ability to twist at the waist 180 degrees (side to side) repetitively
- Ability to squat/bend and lift up to 15 pounds to place parts on machine at chest level repetitively
- Ability to lift 16 to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to squat and lift up to 75 pound fixtures to place on machine at chest level occasionally, with assistance
- Ability to reach over head with one arm to adjust setup dial regularly
