We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Machine Sales Representative position!

Here is some of what you’ll do…

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Machine Sales Representative will be responsible for selling new and used Caterpillar machines, and attachments.  The Machine Sales Representative will also be responsible for building strong customer relationships, achieving a positive customer experience, and achieving sales growth goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Promote, sell, and secure new business in the territory. Sell new, used, and rollout machinery.
2. Understand customer applications and provide the best possible solution for the customer.
3. Direct the demonstration of products or services and assist prospects in the selection of those best suited to their needs.
4. Achieve revenue, GP, and related growth targets as assigned.
5. Utilize and maintain Hawthorne’s customer relationship management system (CRM) with relevant customer and territory information.
6. Initiate, amend, complete, and submit all sales quotes.
7. Provide financial consultation to the customer base explaining the best use of funds relative to machine need and application.
8. Control expenses while transacting sales and adhere to Hawthorne company guidelines.
9. Grow in the knowledge of Caterpillar machine uses and applications.
10. Responsible for working with the Marketing and Sales Operations teams regarding assigned territory programs and strategy.
11. Participate in Caterpillar machine training as assigned by management.
12. Conduct other duties assigned by the General Manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. A minimum of four to six (4-6) years of equipment and related industry experience is required
2. Three to five (3-5) years of Sales or Business Development experience preferred. Caterpillar product knowledge a plus.
3. Three to five (3-5) years of product application or operator experience preferred.
4. PC skills required.
5. Must have a valid California Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.
2. Handling: Works with hands.
3. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts, small tools, batteries, and tampers. May lift up to 60 lbs.
4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Climbing: In and out of equipment.
8. Vision: Reads documents, invoices and bills on computer screens and hard copy.
9. Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.
10. Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.
11. Travel required for training, customer events, and conferences.

ENVIRONMENTAL:         

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temp/Weather: Works in an office and outdoor environment with variations of temperature and weather.
3. Exposure: Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.

• stimated Compensation $26,000 - $28,000 annually plus commissions
