Position Summary:
Provide hands-on manufacturing support, utilizing experience with machining and hardware production. Support the full product life cycle from research and development to low volume production. Provide machine set-up and testing support as required. Must be a responsible self-starter and take pride in their work.
Description of Duties:
•Must have a full understanding of G-code.
•Assist with the initial set-up of CNC mills/lathes.
•Participate in fixture design and manufacturability reviews.
•Assist with development and documentation of hardware manufacturing and verification processes.
•Must be capable of fabricating and assembling prototype hardware in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
•Provide back-up lab technician support as needed
•Diagnose product problems and communicate symptoms to manufacturing engineers
•Must be able to inspect personal 1st piece components using a variety of hand inspection equipment prior to submittal to quality assurance.
•Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds when setting up equipment.
•Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to adjust settings on machinery.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of precision machining
•Ability to read engineering drawings including GD&T per ASME Y14.5
•Knowledgeable in a variety of metal working tools and equipment.
•Knowledge of and experience with Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and working within a visibly clean environment. Can implement and work to "clean as you go" best practices.
•Knowledge of and proficiency in the safe use of mechanical measuring instruments
•Familiar with working under ISO9001 & AS9100 requirements
•Skill in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
•Ability to operate various assembly equipment, such as pneumatic riveters, helical installation tools (both manual and electric), and various torque wrenches.
•Skilled in verbal and written communications.
•Ability to stand, stoop, and crouch over 50% of the time
•Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs
•Ability to read standard work instructions
•Ability to solve routine problems independently
•Ability to demonstrate self-initiative in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
•Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
•Ability to support production requirements as required for the safe operation of standard manufacturing equipment and machinery
