Description:
The Machinist Intern at Mate Precision Technologies will perform general maintenance on various machines and learn to operate manual and CNC machines within their department. They will also learn to inspect the products they are running using various measuring devices. Manufacturing Interns should be enrolled in a post-secondary technical college, pursuing a degree or diploma in CNC Manufacturing Technology, Machine Tool Technology, or a similar program to be qualified for the Machinist Internship Program at Mate Precision Technologies.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up and run various machines.
- Inspect work using gaging and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications.
- Perform basic machine maintenance duties (up to 50% of the time) including oiling and greasing, emptying waste wire and chips, cleaning tanks, etc.
- Meet expectations for productivity and quality and strive for continuous improvement.
- Follows guidelines established for work scheduling and understands delivery objectives.
- Participates in continuous improvement and lean activities.
- Collaborates with others, is open-minded, responsive, and supportive of others' efforts to succeed.

- Other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current enrollment in a CNC Technology program at a post-secondary technical college is required.
- A good attitude and self-motivation is required.
- Good mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills are required.
- A willingness to learn new machining skills is required.
- Good mathematical skills are required.
- The ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal, is required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Occasional bending and stooping.
- Use of hand to finger.
- Lift, move, and pull up to 35 pounds.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- The noise level is moderate.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
Pay, Work Schedule, & Benefits:
- Starting Pay: $23/hour, plus an additional $1/hour shift differential.
