Machinist - Manual machinist at TOPS Staffing

TOPS Staffing has a great direct hire opportunity for an experienced Manual Mill & Lathe Machinist.
The main purpose of this position is to support production operations by maintaining dies and tools used in our production machines. 

Job Details:
Daylight shift Opportunity offering a Monday to Friday schedule   

Pay rate: $25+hr based on candidate experience

Hours: 7am to 3:30pm
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and 7 year criminal history check.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
• Select, mount, and align machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling on manual mills and lathes and other secondary shop equipment
• Make any adjustments to improper machine functioning or cutting actions.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut.
• Accurately monitor and verify quality of machined tools and molds
• Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Understand materials and applications as required.
• Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods.
• Install and adjust cutting tools consistent with the type and size of material being machined.
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts, per documentation.
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, and comparators.


Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required;  AS degree is preferred.

• Must have prior experience doing manual machining work

• Knowledge of maintaining molds or dies is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods standing
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
