About the Job
This position is a member of the Machine Shop. The machinist will report directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities
This position is described as a quality control technician and machinist with the intent of the individual’s time being split approximately 50% between quality control and machining, with quality control taking the priority.

- Stays current on all training requirements.
- Uses guarding provided and does all necessary pre-work checks.
Quality
- Ensure parts and materials used in the production process are free from quality defects.
- Perform in-process and receiving inspections for high-risk parts.
- Ability to accurately use and ensure calibration of measuring tools to validate diameters ranging from .02” to 20” and liner dimensions up to 120” using Calipers, Bore gauges, Micrometers, Thread gauge, Depth gauge, Height gauges, Gage blocks, Pin gages, and Hardness testers. CMM experience is a plus.
- Read and interpret schematics and drawings, including geometric dimensioning/tolerancing, communicating with Engineers as necessary.
- Ensure all quality documentation is complete and accurate.
- Document and report all non-conformances.
- Communicate well with different departments on non-conformities.
- Assist other departments with problem solving or improvement ideas related to production.
- Use root cause analysis to implement solutions and eliminate recurrence of defects.
- Abide by the methods and procedures inherent in position as directed by management.
- Strong computer, Microsoft Office skills.
- Perform quality tests and final audits of machines before delivery to the customer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Machine product to required specification.
- Must have the ability to read & process 2-d detail prints.
- Set-up and operate manual or CNC mills and lathes to produce a product that meets or exceeds design specifications.
- Create and document straight forward programs, where needed. Record proper set-up documentation.
Knowledge of machine tools, equipment, and materials.
- Can set up and run previously run jobs in work centers that they are familiar with, whether the work center is a lathe, mill, surface grinder, or other piece of equipment.
- Has a working knowledge of conventional machining techniques.
- Experience with machining different materials including different grades of steel, aluminum, brass, PVC, UHMW, etc.
